with ease and grace. What is the foe of man? Desire, says the GITA, is the deadliest foe of man. Therefore, conquer desire! Conquer craving! The cause of somuch of our suffering is desire. A great teacher of wisdom, Hermes, said, “If a man stays aloof from the desires of this world, the misfortunes of this world stay aloof fromhim”. It is said that greed is a lesser fault, but fades slowly; hatred is a greater fault, but fades away quickly. Greedmay in turn lead to hatred. Greed and hatred can lead a person to abuse others with the thought 'I am powerful'. This is a clear indication of the need to develop wisdom, so as to overcome these two. We should learn an important lesson in life from birds. They are not greedy. They take onlywhat they eat.

Greed is never good, nor does it serve any purpose. Since we can never attain everything we desire, greed offers us dissatisfaction. Our greediness ultimately destroys us and we harden our hearts, ignoring the needs of others. Greed motivates us to pursue poor choices that plunge us into destruction. We become slaves to many wicked desires and evil pleasures. Our life will be full of evil and envy. We hate others and they hate us.

Greedy people are those who have abundant resources. They do not share them, but instead seek to “spend” the resources of others. This sin is commonly related tomoney, wealth andmaterial possessions. The greedy ones never think that they have enough. That's
