Arising out of our ignorance, these poisonous states of mind then motivate nonvirtuous and unskillful thoughts, speech, and actions, which cause all kinds of suffering andunhappiness for ourselves and others.

GREED is a very destructive tendency. It is the opposite of contentment. Greed denotes the desire to acquire more money, wealth, material possession beyond the need of the individual. It is listed as one of the 7 deadly sins in Christianity. The Bible says, “Love formoney is the root of all evils. Money is not the root of evils”. How much do we love money and how much extra time are we spending to make that extra money? For the Buddhists, greed is based on incorrectly connectedmaterial, wealth and happiness. InHinduism it is said, “Do not seek fortune that greed gathers, for its fruit is bitter”.

LIFE is a battlefield. To face the battle of life, we need the strength of the Spirit. It ismore important than the strength of the body. It is the Atma Shakti, - the power of the Spirit. He who has it, is able to face his foes
