Delight and Distress are related to each other in a way that they can be considered to be the two sides of the same coin. The seed of one is hidden in the other. Every pain is the result of some pleasure and every pleasure is the result of some pain. We can compare delight as the withdrawal of money from the account of life while distress is like the deposit of money in the account of life. If you decide to only withdraw money from the account of life, without making any deposits, then ultimately nothing would be in your account and it will be left with a negative balance of delight, which is distress. At this stage, themore youwithdraw from this negative account, the more distress is credited into our account.

The first Noble Truth in Buddhism is the Truth of Dukkha (Suffering). Suffering in human beings is the result of pain, both physical as well as mental. We all wish to avoid that pain. Man would do anything to avoid distress and seek delightful experiences. People
